How do I apply for a provisional licence?

You can apply for your first provisional driving licence by visiting GOV.UK www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence

How do I book my theory test?

Ensure you only use the official government website. A theory test will currently cost £23.

You can book your theory test at www.gov.uk/book-theory-test.

 

How do I book my practical test?

Ensure you have spoken with your driving instructor before booking your test.

You can only book your practical test after you have passed your theory test.

Your instructor can assist in booking your driving test, or you can book your practical driving test at www.gov.uk/book-driving-test

How many lessons will I need?

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) state that there is no minimum number of driving lessons required to take the test. Their ‘Ready to Pass’ campaign assists you in establishing if you’re ready for your test.

That said, there are several resources suggesting on average it takes around 45 hours of instructional training plus a further 22 hours private practice.

Remember everyone is different. I pride myself on providing client centred lessons. Providing a learning environment where you learn best and adapting my approach to match the way that you learn.

Can I drive on the motorway as a provisional licence holder?

Yes! However, you MUST be accompanied by an Approved Driving Instructor in a car fitted with dual controls.

You must not drive on a motorway with a trainee driving instructor or during private practice with family or friends.
